Nepal was the first Overwatch map made for the Control game mode. This brought a whole new challenge to us on the Environment Art team as this game mode would require three distinct points of a map, but they would all have to fit in the same performance and memory footprint as any of the other Overwatch maps.
All three points of this map were mainly blocked out by me in stages. The Village was blocked out first and was then partly finalized by me and partly by Matthew Ryan. The Shrine area was partly finalized by me and partly by Thiago Klafke who worked on a lot of the buildings and interiors in this area. The Sanctum architecture was mostly finished by me including the interiors. I also made the backgrounds in the map. The spawn drop ship interior and exterior was made by Andrew Klimas. Helder Pinto worked on finalizing additional sight line blocking architecture.
Additional credits for props, set dressing, lighting and organics go out to Dion Rogers, Helder Pinto, Nathan Bowden, Matthew Ryan and Lindsay Johnson. The map was designed by Aaron Keller who I collaborated and iterated a lot with on this map.
