Hanamura was the last map to be included in the initial reveal of Overwatch and along with Temple of Anubis and King's Row it was playable on the show floor at Blizzcon right after the reveal of the project. The deadline to get it ready for the show was really tight but it ended up being one of the most fun maps I've worked on in Overwatch. Most of the architecture in the map was blocked out by me, the city area was then mostly finalized by Bram Eulaers and Andrew Klimas. Bram also made the city and mountain backgrounds. My main focus after the blockout was the temple area, garden, fortress exterior and interior, the fortress spawn area and the arcade interior architecture.
Additional credits for props, organics, vehicles, set dressing and tea room spawn interior go out to Dion Rogers, Helder Pinto, Andrew Klimas and Nathan Bowden. Level Design was done by Aaron Keller and Kris Howl.
